Move seen as a positive step in reflecting growth and diverse membership.
Gainesville, Texas - After more than 60 years in business, Nascoga is changing its name to 4U Credit Union. The new name reflects the credit union’s commitment to being the financial institution of choice for its members and other consumers in the areas it serves. This is simply a name update, not a merger or an acquisition.
“The decision to update our name was not made lightly” said Credit Union CEO Don Wood. “We value and honor our history, our legacy. We were founded by 10 employees of National Supply Company of Gainesville, and our first office was in the corner of their plant. Our original name was formed using letters in company’s name. Unfortunately, that name no longer makes sense to today’s consumers. We need a name that both differentiate us in our marketplaces and reflects our brand commitment to meet our members’ financial needs and help them solve their financial challenges. This is why 4U was chosen, we are here for our members, now and will continue to be tomorrow and the future; we are here for them and because of our members, after all they are the ones that own the credit union”
Nascoga was founded in 1956. The credit union has grown substantially since that time and now competes in some very competitive markets.
The name 4U Credit Union is easy to pronounce, easy to remember and tells consumers exactly what the credit union is about. It exists for its members and their financial needs.
“We believe our new name will be more recognizable and more relatable to today’s consumers and will contribute to future long term growth,” Wood added. “As consumers walk through our doors and experience the level of service we provide, they will immediately make the connection that we are the credit union for them.”
4U Credit Union is a full-service credit union with over $100 million in assets, serving nearly 7,000 members in the Gainesville area.
